Books are Enough

The Power of Free, Self-Selected Reading

Oh, the irony!

I just read an article on Education Week by a science teacher. She was fawning over Common core so much that I thought she had the Vapors. I thought this was odd. Don’t science teachers demand rigorous methodology with controls and empirical evidence?  Don’t science teachers demand evidence and use data? Since Common Core is without evidence, how can a science teacher swoon over it? Is this how she teachers her class? By Whimsy?

The teacher also repeated the myth that Common Core is not a curriculum. Of course we all know that standards become the curriculum- driven by what is tested.

So it has come to this? Science teachers proceeding without evidence and a rigorous methodology?

Oh, the irony!
