Books are Enough

The Power of Free, Self-Selected Reading

Florida Testing Update: October

As the first grading period comes to an end next week, I am wondering how many days of the first 42 school days were disrupted by state testing. How many days were teachers  missing many students because they were testing? How many days were computer labs closed to classes wanting to do research because they were testing sites? How many days were libraries closed so they could host testing? How many days- of the first 42 were full teaching days?

In the typical Florida high school, 23 of the first 42 days were devoted to state mandated testing. You do the math.

This is a crime. Wake up Florida.
