May 15th, 1970 – The Forgotten Killings

The media gushes over the Kent State killings each year. The anti-war protest and subsequent killings are well remembered each year. CNN just did a special about the 1970 event.

But what about the Jackson State killings a few weeks later- on May 15th?

Two Black males were murdered by authorities during the anti-war protest. The media continues to ignore this event. Let me tell you about one of the men killed. James Earl Green was a 17 year old high school senior. Green lost his father when he was younger. He wanted to go to college and was working at a grocery store. He gave money from his job to his mom. And they killed Green at Jackson State. A junior at Jackson State- Phillip Gibbs (age 21)- was also killed.
